A Solution for Vertical Slabs

Vertical slabs would be a nice addition to the game. Even Mojang says they would like to add them. The only problem is figuring out how to add them. If you just make them rotate when you are placing them on the side of a block, that would interfere with the normal behavior too much. This is why I am offering a solution. A lot of blocks behave differently when you hold shift when placing them. Chests don’t connect if you hold shift when placing them. If you make it so slabs only rotate if you are not holding shift, then their behavior would only be altered partially. You could make them only be placed vertically if you are holding shift if that seems better. You could even add a toggle able option for this behavior. Overall this would be a good option and would only enhance the player’s creativity further.
