Hi everyone,
I really love building in Minecraft, but I feel like we are often limited by the variety of decorative block variants we can make from basic materials (like Granite, Diorite, Andesite, Calcite, or even Deepslate and various Woods).
Inspired by how the popular "Chisel" mod works, I think Minecraft doesn't need to add complex machines. Instead, Mojang could deeply expand the existing Stonecutter functionality.
My suggestion:
-
More patterns: Allow the Stonecutter to create completely new textured variants of basic blocks—such as pillars, carved/chiseled patterns, mini-bricks, or textured tiles.
-
Woodcarver table: Add a sister workstation for wood (maybe called a Woodcarver), where we could do the exact same thing with logs and planks—creating carved wood patterns, vertical planks, or panels.
-
Utility & Furniture variants: To bring even more consistency to building, these workstations should also allow us to customize utility blocks. Imagine being able to put Slabs, Stairs, Fences, Doors, and Trapdoors into the machine to get different visual styles/patterns of them, while keeping their original shape and function.
This would give builders hundreds of new options without cluttering the crafting table recipes, utilizing a mechanic that is already in the game. It would make gathering basic resources much more rewarding for creative players.
What do you think?
