Add an In-Game "Export World" Button for Mobile Devices

Title: Add In-Game Export World Button for Android What do I want done? Add a built-in Export World button in Minecraft Bedrock's world settings that saves a .mcworld file directly to the Downloads folder or a user-chosen location via Android's native file picker. Why do I want this done? Since Android 10 (2019), Google introduced "Scoped Storage" which locked the /Android/data/ folder away from third-party file managers. This has gotten worse with every Android update. As of 2025-2026, apps like ZArchiver can no longer access Minecraft's world folder at all. Recent Samsung One UI updates on devices like the Galaxy S23 FE have made this even more restrictive. Even setting world storage to External in Minecraft settings does not help because that path is still inside the restricted Android/data directory. Android players currently have no way to back up, export, or transfer their worlds. This affects anyone who wants to switch phones, share a world, or reinstall the app without losing progress. How do I want it done? Add an Export World option in the world Edit screen that saves a .mcworld file to the Downloads folder or lets the player pick a destination using Android's system file picker. Optionally add an Import World button too. This works with Android's own approved APIs and does not require bypassing any restrictions. It is a practical fix that would restore basic data ownership to millions of Android players.

    I hope more people see this post—including Mojang itself—given the frustration we feel when needing to transfer our worlds after switching phones. However, I believe Microsoft omits this feature to prevent piracy via APKs, since updating requires uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Still, a viable solution must be found to support the loyal customers who have invested both money and time in the game. I hope Mojang, Xbox, and Microsoft can soon find a solution so that long-time players can continue playing without issues in the enduring worlds they have created.
