The Moon Dimension — A Playful "Cartoon Logic" Way to Reach Space
Minecraft has never taken itself too seriously — TNT carts, exploding creepers, and redstone contraptions are core to its identity. A Moon dimension shouldn't need a fully realistic rocket and astronaut suit; that would feel more like a sci-fi mod than vanilla Minecraft.
Instead, players could build a launch contraption from blocks they already have (TNT, pistons, slime blocks) plus a few new lightweight parts. It barely works — like a cartoon, or NASA's clumsy early rocket prototypes.
Once launched, players land on the Moon with:
- Low gravity (higher jumps, slower falls)
- New terrain/resources (moon dust, craters, unique ores)
- No breathable air unless you build a pressurized base — a light survival challenge
- New mobs unique to the Moon
- A visibly curved horizon from a distance (since the Moon is smaller than Earth), even though walking feels flat, like the Overworld
- Digging through the deepest layer drops you back into the Overworld instead of hitting bedrock or the void — turning the "bottom" into a way home
This builds on something players already love — rigging together absurd contraptions for fun — giving a whimsical, DIY new frontier in the spirit of the Nether and the End.
