I enjoy playing Minecraft with my child, but neither of us is particularly skilled at video games, so dealing with hostile mobs can be difficult.
Peaceful mode lets us play comfortably, but Minecraft's hostile mobs are an important and charming part of the game.
We'd like to be able to see them in the world, and some items can only be obtained from hostile mob drops.
Another reason Peaceful mode feels limiting is that the hunger mechanic is disabled.
Growing crops, gathering food, cooking meals, and managing hunger are all enjoyable parts of survival gameplay, and we would like to experience those systems as well.
I would love to see a difficulty level between Peaceful and Easy, perhaps called Gentle. In this mode, hostile mobs would still spawn, but they would not attack players.
Hunger and other survival mechanics would remain enabled. This would allow players to experience exploration and survival without using cheats, while still enjoying the atmosphere of a living Minecraft world.
I would also appreciate being able to see coordinates on the death screen.
When playing split-screen on Nintendo Switch with my child, it is surprisingly easy to get lost or die, even in Peaceful mode, and finding the place where we died can be difficult.
I believe a mode like this would help younger players, families, and players who enjoy a more relaxed survival experience.
