Food and Farming Update

As a long time fan of Minecraft it feels as though every aspect of the game has gotten a recent update except for one part. The food and farming. I think many fans including myself would find the game even more enjoyable than it already is if we could have new foods to cook such as new crops like corn, tomatoes, peppers, beans, etc. I have heard from many posts online that designing rooms like kitchens and areas to cook are some of players favorite parts of the game. If new food and appliances were to be added I think it would greatly improve players experiences and create a whole new level of gameplay. I understand that there are many add ons that players can use to get a similar experience to what I am describing but I would want to see how Minecraft would approach this idea.
