I have an idea that could improve the Off-Hand system in Minecraft Bedrock Edition, especially for mobile players.
Keep the normal 9 hotbar slots and add one separate Off-Hand slot. Players could place items such as torches, shields, maps, food, or totems in this slot.
Instead of adding extra buttons to the screen, players could tap the Off-Hand slot to switch control focus to the left hand. The item in the right hand would remain equipped, while actions and item usage would be performed with the left-hand item until the player switches back.
This would make Bedrock Edition closer to Java Edition while keeping mobile controls simple and easy to use.
Additionally, mobile players should be able to customize the position of the Off-Hand slot through the Touch Controls settings. Since mobile screens already contain many buttons, some players may experience button overcrowding if the Off-Hand slot is placed near movement controls or other important buttons. Allowing players to move and customize its position would make the feature more comfortable and accessible for everyone.
This system would provide the benefits of a full Off-Hand feature without adding unnecessary complexity or extra on-screen buttons.
