The Fletching Table deserves to join the stonecutter, cartography table, and the classic crafting table. While the uses for those other crafting stations may be obvious I think a big reason why the fletching table hasn't been made functional yet is the lack of an obvious niche for it since the crafting table is such an all purpose station.
To remedy this, I propose that they add the following features/items for it to be useful.
- Make it so that a quiver can be crafted using a similar recipe to the bundle which allows for only 4 slots that can carry a stack of arrows each. It should be a wearable item that goes in the chestplate slot.
- New arrow variations that aren't just tipped arrows such as
- iron arrows which just offer you a minor damage improvement at the cost of being more expensive
- ampule arrows which are functionally the same as tipped arrows, but act as a splash potion variant
- blunt arrows which just do knockback (could be very fun for minigames with the new Sulfur Cube) I also think it'd be cool if this was made with a slime ball on a normal arrow.
-
- The fletching table should let you modify your bow with specific strings. A few examples of what I mean are
- a waxed string to improve it's longevity (as can be done in real life).
- a glowstone string which makes arrows a light source slightly dimmer than torches (could be useful to light up dark nooks in caves)
I want a use for the fletching table, and I hope this gives some good reasons why they should come to minecraft.
