Lagging game

Everytime I play minecraft it is really laggy and wont let me move around in the game. How do I fix this problem?? Ive tired downloading the Fabric app but that just made it worst to where I couldn't even open the app. I had to redownload the Minecraft Launcher. This has been happening to me for the past 2 weeks now. It's really frustarting when I paid $20 for the game and cant even play it
