Minecraft's food system could be expanded with mechanics inspired by Farmer's Delight.
Basic foods such as raw meat, carrots, potatoes, and other vegetables would restore very little hunger on their own, making them ingredients rather than complete meals. Players could combine ingredients in a Cooking Pot to create meals that restore much more hunger and saturation.
To encourage food variety, repeatedly eating the same food could gradually reduce its effectiveness, similar to Spice of Life. This feature could be optional in world settings or enabled only on Hard and Hardcore difficulties.
A new item called the Lunch Box could also be added. It would work similarly to a Bundle, but only for food. Players could store multiple meals inside, and it would automatically choose the most appropriate food based on the player's current hunger level.
This would make farming, cooking, and food progression more meaningful while remaining optional for players who prefer the current system.
