I think we should be able to tame and breed Cod, Salmon, Tropical Fish, and Pufferfish using Kelp. Right now, fish don't really have a purpose besides swimming around and giving you fish or bones when they die. Since fish are kept as pets in real life, it would be so cute if we could keep them as pets in the game too. It would make players like them way more, add some depth to them, and make building underwater bases so much more fun! Taming Tropical Fish would be awesome too because players would have more of a reason to search the ocean for rare patterns of them.
Wild fish stay shy and won't come to you with held Kelp, while tamed fish stay near you, won't flee if hit, and teleport when you swim far, but only in water. On land, they still suffocate normally. Cod, Salmon, and Tropical Fish generate bubbles which can be collected to help fill your air meter. Tamed Pufferfish are like guards; they won't ever inflate on you, and will help you out by inflating on underwater mobs that you attack! You can right-click tamed fish to stay and stop moving, and to follow you again. If a tamed fish dies, a message in the chat appears.
For breeding, two tamed fish that are fed Kelp causes one of them to lay Fish Eggs underwater on sand, gravel, or coral blocks. They later hatch into untamed babies you must tame yourself. Drowned will try to stomp the eggs, so you must guard them. Kelp speeds up baby growth and wild fish have a 5% chance to spawn as babies naturally.
I hope you like my idea!
