I know a lot of people had takes on bigger boats, one with 4k votes, so I have my own take. And this involves a lot, so it might have multiple parts.
How You Get Them: So, ships would be created by the player, not in crafting tables, but made with blocks. But first, you need a special item, the helm. You find helm templates and broken helms, whichever is cooler, in shipwrecks and underwater structures, and if but into a smithing table with a log, the broken helms or template, and a mineral, to customize the look, it makes a helm. There are 2 types of helms, galleon helms, and trade ship helms, which determine some things. When you place the helm, a glowing outline for where blocks need to be placed for the ship to work appears around it. The size is 7x28 for galleons and 5x18 for trade ships. All blocks must be filled in with a type of wood for it to work. When finished, it becomes a create mod style physics entity, cuz if create team can do it why not Mojang, and blocks may be place on it, but not too many, or else it will sink. Trade ships have a capacity of 48 blocks and galleons have a capacity of 96. So, for controlling the boat, right click the helm, and it goes into 3rd person ship view. Ad to change the angle, w to go forward, and you can’t go backward. For sails, and my form of naval weaponry, see my next post. Hope you like my take on this.
