Minecraft on Nintendo Switch has improved over the years, but performance and visual quality are still common concerns within the community. With the arrival of Nintendo Switch 2 and upcoming features such as Vibrant Visuals, I would like to suggest that Mojang consider implementing native NVN/NVN2 rendering support for Nintendo's consoles.
Currently, Minecraft uses Vulkan, which helps maintain a unified rendering backend. But Nintendo consoles provide their own native graphics APIs: NVN on Nintendo Switch and NVN2 on Nintendo Switch 2. Since these APIs are designed specifically for Nintendo hardware and NVIDIA Tegra-based systems, they may allow the game to make better use of available resources. Some potential benefits could include improved performance and frame stability, reduced rendering overhead, better battery efficiency in handheld mode, and improved support for advanced graphical features such as Vibrant Visuals.
Minecraft already supports platform-specific graphics APIs on other platforms, such as Metal on iOS and GNM on PlayStation. For this reason, a dedicated Nintendo renderer does not seem unreasonable and could help provide the best possible experience for players on Nintendo hardware. Better optimization could also improve battery life and overall portability, which is especially important for a handheld-focused device like the Nintendo Switch 2.
This is only a suggestion and I would greatly appreciate your consideration. Thank you for all your hard work!
