"The Cage" is a new dimension made of isolated sub-dimensions (Cells) completely enclosed by bedrock. Each Cell contains a corrupted biome and an ancient, powerful "Corrupted Mob" boss. Exploration is non-linear; the only way to escape a Cell is through defeat or victory.
Why: Minecraft lacks a scalable post-Ender Dragon endgame loop. The Cage introduces modular, balanced boss fights with scalable difficulties. It mathematically completes the bedrock geometry progression of the game (Overworld: floor; Nether: sandwich; End: none; The Cage: closed cube) and gives a massive late-game purpose to Overworld Archaeology.
How:
1. The Key: Players brush suspicious blocks in ancient structures to find "Ancient Color" pigments.
2. The Portal: Applying the pigment to a flat Bedrock surface (with a 2-block clearance above) turns it into a shimmering portal. Different colors lead to different Corrupted Mobs and tiers.
3. The Trial: Players drop into a sealed bedrock chamber. No exit portals generate inside, and beacons cannot pierce the ceiling.
4. The Reward: Dying causes item loss and respawn. Defeating the boss drops its unique Mob Head (ultimate trophy/crafting ingredient) and opens a return portal to
safety.
