Hello Mojang Team,
I truly appreciate Minecraft's LAN multiplayer capability, which makes it the perfect offline game. However, the current launcher's verification system is highly penalizing for players who don't launch the game frequently, often locking them out due to expired tokens or mandatory update checks when completely offline.
I fully understand the need for strict verification to prevent a single account from being abused across multiple offline devices. To balance anti-piracy with genuine offline user needs, I would like to suggest introducing a "Designate Primary Offline Device" mechanism, similar to other major gaming platforms:
-
Device Designation: While online, a player can explicitly set a specific PC/device as their "Primary Offline Device."
-
Complete Offline Trust: The designated device should be fully trusted by the launcher. Even if it stays offline or unused for months without updating, the launcher should allow unconditional startup of downloaded versions for Singleplayer and LAN play.
-
Flexible Switching: The player can change or switch which device is the "Primary Offline Device" at any time, as long as they are online. (Un-designated/secondary devices would still follow the current strict offline checks).
This solution blocks the loophole of account abuse while ensuring a seamless experience for players who only boot up their dedicated offline/LAN devices during specific occasions (like camping or gatherings). Thank you for considering this win-win solution!
