To make Minecraft's geology more accurate, these stone types would exist:
- Basalt - default type
- Blackstone
- Netherrack
- Granite
- Sandstone
- Deepslate
- Tuff
- Marble
- Sulfur
- Cinnabar
All types of stone should be able to be crafted into furnaces and tools, and other stone items.
These variants would exist:
- Raw - natural stone generation
- Cobbled - after mined with a pickaxe
- Bricks
- Pillar - basalt pillars generate in the Nether
- Weathered - has cracks in it, like andesite or diorite
- Polished
- Smooth
- Raw Slab
- Raw Stairs
- Raw Wall
- Cobbled Slab
- Cobbled Stairs
- Cobbled Wall
- Brick Slab
- Brick Stairs
- Brick Wall
- Pillar Slab
- Weathered Slab
- Weathered Stairs
- Weathered Wall
- Polished Slab
- Polished Stairs
- Polished Wall
- Smooth Slab
- Smooth Stairs
- Smooth Wall
Replacements to make the feature easier to implement:
- Andesite will be replaced by weathered basalt
- Polished and brick andesite blocks will be replaced with basalt variants
- Smooth stone will be its own unique variant of basalt, called baked basalt
- Smooth basalt will be replaced by smooth deepslate
- Diorite will be replaced by weathered marble
- Polished and brick diorite blocks will be replaced with marble variants
- Sandstone will be replaced with smooth and cobbled sandstone, depending on where it generates
- Calcite will be replaced with raw marble
- Quartz blocks will be replaced with marble variants
If this idea is not possible, at least add cobbled, brick, raw, stair, slab, and wall variants to the currently existing stones, and make them be craftable into stone tools, furnaces, etc.
