Suspicious Rune
I believe Minecraft's enchantment progression could benefit from an additional early and mid-game option. My idea is a new item called the Suspicious Rune.
The Suspicious Rune would be a consumable item found in structures such as dungeons, mineshafts, temples, shipwrecks, and strongholds. When combined with a tool, weapon, shield, or armor piece in the crafting grid, it would grant one random compatible enchantment and then be consumed.
The purpose of the rune is not to replace the Enchanting Table, enchanted books, or villager trading. Instead, it would provide players with a way to gradually improve their equipment before obtaining a full enchanting setup.
For example, an iron sword could receive Sharpness I or Looting I, while a pickaxe could receive Efficiency I or Fortune I. This would make iron gear more valuable and encourage players to invest in equipment rather than replacing it immediately.
Players could also craft a Blank Rune using Flint. The Blank Rune could then be infused in an Enchanting Table using lapis lazuli and experience levels to create a Suspicious Rune.
This feature would make exploration more rewarding, create a smoother enchantment progression, give Flint an additional use, and provide players with another way to interact with Minecraft's enchantment system without replacing existing mechanics.
