Dear Mojang,
I'm excited about the new poplar woodset, but I'd like to suggest a color adjustment. The current light grey doesn't accurately reflect real poplar wood, which naturally occurs in pale green and purple hues. I'd love to see the woodset changed to either a pale green or purple variant instead.
REAL POPLAR WOOD COLORS:
- Pale Green: Tulip poplar (yellow poplar) has a greenish heartwood, and balsam poplar features naturally pale greenish tones
- Purple: Eastern cottonwood (a poplar species) displays purplish coloring, especially when freshly cut
WHY THIS MATTERS:
Minecraft's wood blocks have done an excellent job capturing real-world wood colors—this would keep that tradition going. Additionally, pale/light-colored woods are already well-represented in the palette (birch, spruce variants, etc.), so a green or purple poplar would add valuable visual variety while maintaining accuracy.
I'm not attached to which color you choose—either pale green or purple would be a significant improvement and a more authentic representation of what poplar wood actually looks like in nature.
Thank you for considering this feedback!
