Stopping vine growth with shears

You are able to shear kelp, weeping vines, twisting vinres and cave vines to stop them from growing. 

However you can't do this on regular wall vines.

You should be able to shear wall vines to prevent them from growing down or spreading to othet blocks.

This would make them viable building blocks without them completely overgrowing my house, and they'll be consistent with other vines.
