With the new Dappled Forest biome, it seems like the perfect time to add a woodtype for Azalea. Every new tree since Azalea was added to the game in 1.17 has received their own woodtype, whilst Azalea has been left on the shelf, forgotten.
We've gotten so much variety, yet the tree we still refer to as 'Azalea', is simply made of oak logs. It's not some "swamp variant of oak", it's a different tree entirely. The leaves are already so unique, same with the 'saplings', yet no oak sapling grows into an Azalea. It's inconsistent.
I like the concept of a 'rare' woodtype, but even then, just find a Lush Cave and you've got plenty of bushes. It would be visually-pleasing and satisfying knowing that every tree has their own woodtype. Just imagine the builds, with the poplar trees, cherry trees and the azalea trees, a whole colourful forest filled with different wood sources - creating endless possibilities.
A green or violet wood colour is very much needed and requested, and Azaleas are perfect to fill in the gap. It's a simple, worthwhile change. You've changed the appearance of Sulfur Springs, so you are paying attention.
Azaleas still feel like a rushed feature, but it's not too late. It serves another purpose too. In survival, I would love to find Azalea trees because I need its woodtype to complete my house. It allows players to interact with the trees and Lush Caves further, bringing a new sense of purpose to the biome.
Please Mojang, give Azalea the Bamboo treatment.
