Hello Mojang Studios,
Today marks one year since our beloved nephew Melker from Sweden passed away from a brain tumor. He was only 7 years old and would have turned 8. His passing has been very hard on all of us and I really wanted to honor him in a way he would love.
Minecraft meant so much to him. During the hardest period of his life, your game became a place where he could still laugh, build, explore, and simply be a child. He spent countless hours playing together with his father and his best friend, creating worlds and memories that became very precious to us.
Melker especially loved cherry blossom trees. At the end he said that when he was gone, he wanted to come back as a butterfly to visit us.
We know many people reach out to you, and I’m not asking for anything big or impossible. But I wanted to ask if there could perhaps be some small tribute to Melker somewhere within Minecraft or within the community, maybe a tiny hidden reference, a cherry blossom tree, a butterfly-inspired detail, a splash text, or anything you feel would fit naturally into the game.
Even the smallest gesture would mean the world to his family, his friends, and especially to his father, who shared so many Minecraft adventures with him. And I know he would love to have his own little sign in the Minecraft world.
Thank you for creating a world that gave Melker joy, comfort and imagination during such a difficult time in his short life.
With love and gratitude,
Ebba, Melkers aunt.
