Right now Minecraft’s world height goes from Y‑64 to Y319, which gives us 384 blocks of vertical space. That’s fine for normal gameplay, but it becomes really limiting when you’re working on big terrain projects, tall mountains, or custom maps made in tools like WorldPainter.
A lot of creators run into the same problem: mountains or structures get cut off at the top because the height limit just isn’t high enough. It forces people to flatten or shrink their terrain, which makes everything look less natural.
Raising the world height to something like 512 or 640 blocks — or even adding an optional “High‑Height World Type” — would solve this. It would let us:
-
build more realistic mountain ranges
-
import large custom maps without losing detail
-
have more freedom for tall builds
-
expand creativity without changing normal survival worlds
-
keep performance safe by making it optional
This would help map makers, terrain artists, and anyone who likes building on a bigger scale. Even if it’s experimental or optional, having a higher world height would open up a lot of new creative possibilities.
