Similar to how one would dye Leather Armour, why not make Potions once again brewable inside Cauldrons?
Cauldrons can now be placed over burning blocks to light them. To preserve the requirement of Blaze Powder in Potions, how about add the ability to 'dust' blocks with Blaze Powder, similar to Redstone, and then ignite them to produce an infinite flame, except this time without needing Netherrack. Flames produced by Blaze Powder would also be much brighter and emit particle effects.
Once a Cauldron is placed over a Blaze Powder ignited block, the ingredients can be thrown in as usual, starting from a water bucket, then Netherwart, then ingredients. Each ingredient will produce different coloured particle effects to indicate it has been added. Splash Potions and lingering Potions would still remain with the same method of aquirement.
When the Potion has finished brewing, it may be bottled up to 3 times.
Another funny addition could be to use a Shovel to accelerate the brewing process; interacting with a Shovel in hand will stir the Cauldron.
