I have been blacksmithing for a little over three years now. I have been using the same anvil almost every day for said three years. Sure, it has a few scratches, and two dents. But that is all that it has. After one of the Minecraft anvils I was using broke, I made another. This new anvil got damaged after one use to rename a nametag. I am honestly quite unsure as to why it was thought to be a good idea for anvils to break, as it is not very realistic. I especially think that with the amount of iron needed to craft an anvil, they should at the very least last for a MUCH longer amount of time. I get that there is such thing as iron farms, but any iron farm that would be efficient enough to produce enough iron to keep crafting the many anvils needed to enchant gear would have to be much later in the game as the materials necessary cost too much. The only two current solutions to this iron issue are strip mining, and AFK-ing an early game iron farm for a long period of time.
