I have an idea for gear progression where diamond armor branches into 3 dimension-themed paths. These paths would be Nether (Netherite), Overworld (Hardened Diamond) and End (Endium).
Instead of just a string of direct upgrades following netherite, I want the player to have a choice between these 3 options when upgrading diamond gear. The sets would be equally useful specializations, with unique attributes that set them apart.
Netherite
- Uniquely sturdy, with knockback & fire resistance
- The items don't burn
- Armor emits ember particles
Hardened Diamond
- Makes hunger less of a problem
- The items won't despawn after 5 minutes
- Hardened Diamonds are obtained by throwing diamond blocks into the return portal in the End
- Templates are crafted from template fragments found rarely in most overworld structures
- Looks similar to diamond, but more geometric looking
- Armor emits sparkles
Endium
- By holding jump, you hover a bit after jumping
- Reduces/removes the damage taken from Ender Pearls
- Endermen will tolerate brief eye contact
- Mined from the bottoms of the End's islands
- The items float back out of the void
- Templates are found in End Cities
- Pale purplish color with ornate design
- Armor emits purple End particles
Additional Idea (Chameleon Enchantment)
- Restricted to these 3 armors
- Gives armor a bundle-like item slot that, when filled with another piece of armor, will make the enchanted armor look like the other armor
- Can be used for fashion & deception
- Dimensional particles reveal true armor underneath
