Writing this as a long-time player who is increasingly frustrated with the direction Mojang is taking regarding feature removals and server limitations. One of the most disappointing changes has been the continued restriction and removal of player control over simulation distance. Features that once allowed players to customize and optimize their worlds are disappearing, and it feels like every update gives us less freedom.
This doesn’t come across as improving the game; it feels like a cost cutting measure designed to reduce server load and save Mojang money at the expense of the community experience. Players are paying subscription fees for Realms and other online services, yet the quality of those services continues to decline. We are effectively paying more for fewer options and reduced performance.
Minecraft became successful because it empowered players with creativity, customization, and control. Removing settings like simulation distance undermines that philosophy. Many players use these options for farms, redstone builds, multiplayer worlds, and overall gameplay consistency. Taking those choices away negatively impacts established worlds and playstyles that people have invested years into
Please reconsider the ongoing removal of player-controlled features and start focusing on restoring trust with the community. Players want improvements, optimization, and stability, not reduced functionality while continuing to pay premium subscription prices for a degrading service.
