Amethyst is a resource renewable in a very fun way - location locked to Geodes. However, it currently has very few uses, demotivating the development of Geodes for Amethyst harvesting. I suggest new uses across four categories:
Building/Decoration:
Amethyst Block itself has very limited Building uses, unless enjoyed for the sound it emits. Adding a Smooth and Polished versions, which do not emit sound anymore, but are transparent (filter light by 2 or 3), Would make for a very interesting and unique new building material. Smooth version should include Stairs and Slabs.
Redstone:
Amethyst already allows for Wireless Signal Transmission in combination with Sculk Sensors, but as of now, the Redstone signal is "unidirectional" from Sculk Sensors to Redstone. Amethyst blocks should vibrate while powered by Redstone to allow for signal "input".
Material Transformation:
When exposed to heat irl, amethyst loses it's characteristic violet colour, turning yellowish-beige instead. This gave me the idea that Smelting an Amethyst Shard in a Furnace should produce Nether Quartz, providing an alternative to Piglin Bartering.
Tools:
We already have Diamond tools, why not other gems too? Outside of the cool colour, Amethyst Tools would have mining efficiency 7, between Iron and Diamond, but durability 131, the same as Stone. Their role comes as pre-Diamond tool for Diamond harvest. With enchantability 18 (squarely between Iron and Gold) for that Fortune enchantements.
