Redstone idea

I have a redstone idea. A redstone link and a redstone receiver. A redstone signal is sent to the sender and then comes out of the receiver. To configure it, two items are inserted into the top of the two blocks. If the same item is in the first and second slots, they are connected. This idea originally comes from the Minecraft mod Creat. I know this would be too good for the game, so a maximum range could be implemented. Thanks!
