First off, I want to thank the Minecraft team for the Golden Dandelion. What an amazing feature!
The Problem:
Stunting plant growth is a feature players have wanted for years. The universal solution has always been placing string on top of plants. However, string doesn't work underwater (for kelp), and now that string has been changed to be more visible, it is no longer a clean solution for builders who need an exact plant size to fit their atmosphere (like vines, sugarcane, bamboo, and glow lichen). Even in the technical & competitive sphere, players can easily track and find secret bases simply by looking at loaded chunk plant growth (like kelp or crops), so a flexible solution is something that would be accepted by a large player base.
The Solution:
Allow the Golden Dandelion to lock plants in their current growth stage forever! This addition fits so naturally with the current mob function. Players could right-click a plant with a Golden Dandelion to freeze it, and right-click it again to revert it to normal. This mechanical concept already exists in the game via copper blocks and wax to freeze oxidation. Since the core purpose of this flower is already to stop growth for mobs, why limit it? This adds massive utility to an item whose only current use is very specific and somewhat rare, aligning perfectly with what seems like Minecraft's current design direction of giving players precise environmental control (ex: copper oxidation & mob growth).
Thank you for reading! :)
