Update farming

I've been playing minecraft since I was 10 and now I'm graduating college still playing the game. I've seen this game in pretty much all its phases. However, I feel like an area thats been forgotten in the game is farming. I would love to see more variety in crops and maybe some crops being more exclusive to certain biomes. Having more crops also means having more food options to play around with. I think this would make a better experience to those who love farming and building in the game. To those who focus more on survival more food options are always great. I know this would be difficult from a coding/programming perspective since this means changing biomes and updating the way villagers work but I think as a long term project it would really be worth it. I think with an update like this different wood varients for chest would also make sense (spruce chest, dark oak chest, etc). As a long time fan of the game I think this update is overdue and think its about time we have a more in depth quality update rather than small bandaid content updates. Thank you for considering.
