Currently when you stun a shield with your axe in minecraft, the player stands there and doesn't take any knockback, due to an invincibility tick. However below version 1.19, this didn't exist, and you could click twice to both stun the player's shield and knock them up too. This however was better and more fun for PvP, as it increased the skill ceiling for shield PvP and allowed skilled manouvers to keep people in a combo.
My suggestion is that when you stun a player's shield in Minecraft, they take the knockback equivalent of a normal hit not sprinting, but only from the one click that stuns the shield. This would allow the same behavior as pre 1.19 shields for improved PvP, as well as keeping the same functionality of 1 click doing the shield stun and knocking the player up instead of 2, as I assume Mojang removed that shield stunning mechanic because double clicking mice were getting super necessary to have an advantage in shield PvP, and the 1.9 update was meant for not needing special mice or CPS for an advantage. This suggestion combines the best of both worlds, and would be a positive change all-round.
