When you disable someone’s shield with an axe, they get ‘invincible’ for a brief period just like if you had damaged them, but as you might know, disabling shields does not damage the other player. They don’t even turn red, which makes it so confusing and nonsense. Because of that, I suggest you remove the mechanic that gives invincibility frames for players that got their shield disabled; those should only be given when the players gets actually hit (damaged).
Additionally, something unrelated to the vanilla game made the vast majority of the PvP community used to shield disables NOT giving invincibility, leading to the creation of a technique called ‘stun’ that’s used by almost everybody in PvP servers. The vast majority of servers manually add the ‘stun’ mechanic (remove invincibility after shield disables), and the vast majority of PvPers agree that it makes PvP way more fun.
You have no idea how important ‘shield stunning’ has become to PvP and, since the way it currently works in vanilla doesn’t make sense and is confusing (since there’s nothing visual that indicates that the player who got their shield disabled gets invincibility frames), I think ‘stuns’ should be added to the game. Just make it so MOBS CANNOT instantly hit players after disabling their shield, but PLAYERS CAN! ;)
