Subject: Optimization and Platform Parity for M-Series Apple Silicon
The current state of Minecraft Bedrock Edition (MCBE) on M-series hardware is technically unacceptable. Despite industry-leading performance (M2–M5), the software fails to leverage the hardware, and the platform remains artificially restricted.
1. iPad Pro Performance & Thermal Issues On M4 and M5 iPads, MCBE suffers from aggressive thermal throttling and inconsistent frame pacing. The RenderDragon engine fails to utilize the additional GPU cores of "Pro" SoCs, resulting in micro-stutters on 120Hz ProMotion displays. We need a "High Performance" profile for M-series iPads that stabilizes FPS and optimizes resource allocation to prevent rapid thermal accumulation.
2. Lack of macOS Platform Parity While Windows, Xbox, PlayStation, and mobile devices all have native access to Bedrock Edition, macOS remains the only major desktop platform excluded. This lack of a native port is a significant barrier for technical creators and developers who require a desktop environment to test JSON logic, Molang scripts, and resource packs. There is no technical justification for withholding a native macOS port when the rest of the ecosystem—including consoles with inferior hardware—enjoys full support.
Conclusion Mojang must address this platform disparity. We request a native macOS port of Bedrock Edition and a dedicated optimization pass for M-series GPUs to bring the software in line with current hardware standards.
