Hi Minecraft Team,
As a technical player and content creator, I’ve noticed that when a Resource Pack has a missing or broken texture/model, the game either shows the "purple and black" placeholder or crashes entirely, sometimes corrupting the world save.
I want to suggest a more robust system for Bedrock Edition:
-
Automatic Texture Fallback: If the engine detects a missing or corrupted asset in a custom pack, it should automatically load the original vanilla texture from the base game files instead of showing an error or a transparent block.
-
Emergency Auto-Save: If a critical error occurs due to a faulty
manifest.jsonor a missing geometry file, the game should perform an "Emergency Save" of the world data before closing. This would prevent world corruption and loss of progress. -
Mandatory Fix Notification: Instead of crashing, the game should return the player to the Main Menu with a clear log stating exactly which file is missing (e.g., "Error: sword_texture.png not found").
This would greatly improve the experience for the modding community and creators who test multiple packs, ensuring our worlds stay safe and the game stays stable.
Best regards, Bautista
