Summary: As a geological enthusiast I'd love to see an update to the visual models of both the new Sulfur Spikes and existing Dripstone to reflect their real-world geological formations more accurately while seeing the introduction of a Flowstone blocks to complete the cavern set.
1. Unique Models for Stalactites vs. Stalagmites
-
Right now, both Pointed Dripstone and the newly added Sulfur Spikes share identical inverted shapes and texture cards to their floor counterparts. In the real world, stalagmites build up from splashing mineral drops, resulting in lumpy, bulging, and wider structures. Stalactites are stretched downward by gravity as water flows, creating elongated, sharper points. Having this reflected in separate models for ceiling and floor would be great for both providing these visual cues, so the game passively teaches players geology, making it easier to naturally learn the difference between stalactites and stalagmites while introducing now shapes to build with.
2. Completing the Set: Flowstone
-
Caverns currently feature stalactites, stalagmites, and columns, but to complete the geological set, we are missing Flowstones. Rather than adding a new 3D shapes, Flowstone could be introduced as a new solid textured block for cave floors or perhaps as card blocks similar to dead bushes, or coral fans. Similar to above this gives builders new forms and shapes to build with while expanding the educational side that minecraft has always done a great job a bring to players.
