I feel like minecraft has developed so much and with all the new enchants it feels so out of date to have anvils capping out at certain xp limit. It was fine when there were only a few enchants, but now its just impossible to add the multiple books that you SHOULD have access to. I followed the steps they tell you online because I wanted to make myself some netherite boots (putting the books together first and then throw them on a pair or unenchanted boots) and surprisingly, it wouldnt let me, even though I had another pair with the exact same enchants. I wasted all my time in bastions and trading with villagers, and all that effort to make one completely useless book that I cant do anything with. The mechanic feels outdated, minecraft is supposed to be a sandbox game where you can do "almost" whatever you want yet when it comes to putting a few enchants on something, suddenly "thats too much". You cant evolve and make a game better with old mechanics like these that dont match how the game currently is. The more enchants we get, the more people will have to look up tutorials on how to make the combinations they want, not in a clever way, but in a nuisance type of way.
The mechanic doesnt help anyone, doesnt prevent any OP items from being made, adds complications and annoyance to people who have to deal with it. So why keep it?
