Let’s talk about the Friends List (Java)

We're introducing Friends to Minecraft: Java Edition, starting with some important foundational work. 
This first version is intentionally simple. It introduces a basic Friends list and friend requests. Since this is Java's first built in Friends system, the experience focuses on the essentials and will continue to evolve over time. 
 
By laying these foundations, we're opening the door to adding more social features over time. While this initial update doesn't include everything you might expect yet, it makes future improvements possible. 
 
Now we'd like your input. 
What would you want Friends on Java to have? 
What would make playing with friends easier, safer, or more enjoyable? 
Share your ideas and help us shape what comes next.

    The multiplayer option is not appearing on the single player pause menu

    The new menu layouts look really weird, there is a mod on modrinth called Better Friends that has a way nicer layout for the menu, basically just putting the online stuff under a different sub menu.

    I was impressed by the developers' hard work on this update. But I hope multiplayer arrives soon; I really want to play with my friends on Java. One cool thing they could add would be a notification when friends come online, or perhaps a notification when they join a world.

    WHY does it not work this cant be this hard of a concept. Everytime I open it it says lan and not multiplayer. My friend wasted 30 bucks on minecraft for a feature he cant even use and people are in these coments talking about button sizes like are we for real bro? Maybe just maybe make the feature work and not so complicated. Just let me invite my friend rather then having to mess with hundreds of setttings for 30 mins straight this is killing me bro. You want me to wait till the next update months from now just for this feature?? Maybe just fix it and make it work and give us a new update just for that.

    use text for the buttons, not icons! the menu also does not match the style of java menus, consider how the creative inventory ui looks for reference

    Let us actually join each other's worlds. There is no point to adding a friend feature unless there is genuine interaction between players.

    would it be possible to add voice chat in minecraft simaler to simple vc that would be AWESOME making minecraft even more fun to play with your friends (side note also make it activate skulk sensors like in the addon for simple vc could make some cool traps with that)

    I find an issue with this update, Im unable to invite friends into my world so i think this current friends update is that you can add friends but cannot actually play with them. Mojang please can we fix this? I just wanna play minecraft with my friends ;-;
