Minecraft currently lacks a cohesive dark metal block set. Iron is bright, chains are dark, and netherite isn’t really viable for building because it is expensive. Adding Wrought Iron would fill this gap with a builder-focused material that complements existing styles without really affecting in-game material progression (would not add new tool/ weapon/ armor tier). I have always wanted to use a gothic-style metal block set for graveyards, haunted mansions, and dungeons!
Concept:
Wrought Iron is a dark, forged variant of iron used strictly for decorative and utility blocks. It could visually align with netherite but has no crafting or gameplay overlap with the netherite tier. This block set would be conceptually similar to the copper block set.
Obtaining:
- Simply smelt Iron Ingots in a Blast Furnace → Wrought Iron Ingots
Block Set:
- Wrought Iron Block, Cut variants (slabs/stairs)
- Wrought Iron Door & Trapdoor
- Wrought Iron Fence & Gate?
- Wrought Iron Grate
- Wrought Iron Bars
Bars:
- Wrought Iron Bars align with existing copper and iron bar styles
- Ornate Wrought Iron Bars have subtle, scrolls and decorative variations for detailed builds (think Iron Work from New Orleans architecture style!)
Spikes:
- Gothic-style hazard block that deals contact damage (ideal for traps, defenses and decoration placed above bars)
Rusting:
- Rust forms only when exposed to water/rain
- Can be prevented (e.g., waxing)
- Rusted Wrought Iron Spikes apply weakness effect (tetanus)
