Mangrove trees generate in shallow water

Mangrove trees should be able to grow in shallow water. From the video shown off of the Mangrove swamp the root blocks snake into the water, but nothing large enough for a boat to pass under. Having the trees in the water, perhaps forming lines would make those overpasses possible.
