Add another tier of powers for even bigger pyramids- The ability to fly in creative mode or go spectator while within range of the beacon.
Additionally, make it so the the material used for the pyramid matters- Iron extends regen to golems. Gold creates an area in the overworld where piglins and hoglins don't become undead and are non-hostile unless attacked. Emerald allows you to lead villagers around by holding any item they have a trade for ready. Diamond gives you +1 looting and +1 fortune +1 luck of the sea (stacks with enchanted tools), turn off enderman and/or creeper griefing
Corrupted Beacon (suggested by another poster, but fleshed out a bit here)- it creates negative effects-weakness, no flight, poison, wither (at the highest tier). It can make crops regress, increase the chances of hostile spawns, lower the light level in an area by 7, heal undead, apply random potion effects to spiders, charge creepers if it's raining, create mining fatigue...
Negative Conduit- You immediately start taking drowning damage under water, can't see as far and puffer fish will chase you, increased chance of drowned having tridents.
But, all of this comes with some new control abilities. You can put a new type of chest in the base of the pyramid- a chest made of netherite ore. By putting different things in the chest you can change who the beacon/conduit/negative beacon/neg. con. affects. Wool colors could assign effects to teams. Animal drops could apply them to animals...
