This is a proposal concerning the permissions for the tick command.
Currently, it is not possible to execute the tick command from data packs or command blocks.
Some tick commands completely halt the tick cycle; if these were executed within a data pack or via a command block, control would become impossible and the world itself could potentially become corrupted.
I imagine the permission level is set to 3 precisely because of this concern.
However, as map and minigame creators, we often wish to incorporate ‘slow-motion effects’ into our games.
For example, the moment a player wins a game, or the moment a powerful enemy is defeated.
Slow-motion effects are also necessary in other tense scenes.
Moreover, such effects are actually used in anime and films to create a sense of tension.
Therefore, I have two proposals.
Proposal 1: Lower the permission level for /tick rate only.
Proposal 2: Implement a time-limited command such as /slowtick <rate> <duration>.
By imposing a limit on <rate> and implementing a command to remove the effect, such as /slowtick clear, the risk of ticks freezing permanently would be eliminated.
If these proposals were implemented, it would significantly enhance the expressive power of effects in minigames and similar content, whilst maintaining the safety of the world.
We kindly ask that you consider this for the sake of us map creators.
