Hi! :D. Sulfur already has interesting behavior, like nausea in sulfur lakes, but it could be expanded into a more connected system affecting combat, exploration and equipment.
A new effect called Corrosion would apply when entering sulfur lakes. It would slowly damage the durability of metal gear over time. Iron and copper would be heavily affected, gold less, and diamond and netherite would be immune. Tools would work the same way as armor, while wood or stone would not be affected.
Sulfur could also be used to craft a Potion of Corrosion, which applies the effect, deals low continuous damage and reduces armor effectiveness. Higher levels would increase its power, making it useful in PvP and against armored enemies.
Armor trims could gain a small function using sulfur. A sulfur trim could reduce corrosion effects and prevent nausea, but with a downside like increased fire or lava damage. Other trim materials could have small, simple bonuses without being overpowered.
Two enchantments could support this system:
-Ofensive enchantment "Corrosion": applies the effect on hit and slightly increases damage if already applied.
-Defensive enchantment: reduces corrosion effects on player and equipment.
These could be found in sulfur-related cave structures with unique loot, encouraging exploration.
Overall, this expands sulfur into a small but cohesive system connecting environment, combat and equipment while staying simple and fitting vanilla gameplay. That's my contribution, bye! :D
