This device is crafted similar to the compass or clock, but with copper ingots instead.
The Barometer is similar in shape to the compass, but its needle follows a color gradient:
Purple = thunderstorm; Blue = rainy/snow; Cyan = clear.
The needle will also begin to slowly approach any of these colors if the weather is to change in that direction respectively, but this happens very slowly, giving the player warning about upcoming weather events. This is very useful mainly for thunderstorms, as hostile mobs can spawn during this time and the player might not always have access to decent shelter or a bed to pass the night.
Redstone potential: If the Barometer is placed on an item frame, it will begin to emit a redstone signal behind the block of the item frame relative to the weather signal (assuming redstone is present on the other side). This could be used to build redstone-powered machinery that operates based on the weather.
Conclusion:
- The Barometer is similar to the compass or clock, but predicts the future patterns of weather.
- This is useful as certain weather events (such as thunderstorms) can be dangerous if the player is unprepared.
- The Barometer introduces redstone potential for machines that operate based off of weather patterns, which is not possible without commands as of this moment.
Anyways, thanks for reading!
