I think copper in Minecraft takes too long to fully oxidize, especially for players who want to build with all stages of copper without waiting for long periods of time.
A cool and realistic improvement would be to make copper oxidize faster when it is placed near water (like oceans, rivers, or even large ponds). In real life, moisture speeds up oxidation one of the best examples is the Statue of Liberty, which turned green over time due to exposure to the elements, especially humidity and ocean air.
How it could work in-game:
Copper blocks within a certain range of water sources oxidize faster
The closer the copper is to water, the faster the process
Rain and humidity (biomes like swamps or jungles) could also slightly increase oxidation speed.
