Within these structures or among the badlands biome a new type of decorative natural block may generate along the walls that acts as a sort of natural chiseled block containing ancient petroglyphs. Instead of being its own unique stagnant block, potentially, a new functionality could be introduced that allows the symbols of pottery sherds to be carved unto the surfaces of hardened clay blocks or terracotta, introducing more building variety, acting much like current clay pots. These petroglyphs could also have some sort of gameplay mechanic beyond decoration by introducing some minor status effects within a small area depending on the symbols acting like an early to mid game beacon. These could either affect the player or affect processes like speeding up smelting time, plant growth, potion brewing, and breeding cool downs, slightly increasing drops from farming and killing mobs both passive and hostile, a chance to increase the amount of babies produced from breeding, increasing or decreasing hostile and passive mob spawn rates, applying a slight luck effect for fishing and mob drops, affecting villager trade rates, and, my favorite, apply a small chance for materials to not be consumed during crafting processes. To active these effects, if they'd need to be activated, the aforementioned turquoise could be used either by having the glyphs consume turquoise and light up or by placing turquoise near or next to the glyphs. Different materials/gems could work on different glyphs

Also just want to be clear that I understand that these features/locales extend beyond my state and represent the entire Sonoran desert region, I just named Arizona first because its my home.
