The Transportation Update
This update improves Minecraft transport by making minecarts, boats, and horses faster, scalable, and viable at all stages—without changing Elytra.
Minecarts
Add progression: copper powered rails match current speed and are cheaper; gold powered rails become 2–3× faster for late-game travel. Add brake rails that gradually slow carts, and loader/unloader rails that transfer items to hoppers at high speed. Rework furnace minecarts to accept fuel via hoppers, store it internally, and be toggled with redstone for continuous systems. Moving minecarts keep nearby chunks loaded in a small radius, allowing long-distance automation. These changes make minecarts effective for both fast travel and large-scale logistics.
Boats
Add geyser blocks that launch boats/entities upward, with height based on stacking. Introduce a momentum system where boats gain speed when moving downhill or diagonally on water, enabling player-built “water highways.” Add powered boats (fuel-based speed boost), reinforced boats (more durability), and a 4-player boat for group travel.
Horses
Add trot (normal) and gallop (player-activated sprint with limited duration). Introduce progression through use (XP) and/or feeding rare items for capped stat boosts. Add horseshoes with enchantments (speed, jump, frost walker), plus enchantable horse armor and cosmetic armor trims.
Optional
Mobs gain short speed bursts or the abillity to sprint when aggroed for more dynamic combat.
