Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Traveler's Compass (real compass)

The idea is very simple: if you cover a regular compass with media, you can get a compass that points in the right direction. It will have two arrows: a red one pointing north and a blue one pointing south. There are also two secondary arrows pointing west and east, respectively, which are simply white.
 
This compass doesn't point to spawn points, but it can help you navigate the world, just like in real life.
