It would be a great feature if achievements could improve your items and pets. For example, if you earned an achievement for taming all types of dogs or wolves, they could become stronger, or the leads you craft would no longer break.

Another example: if you discovered all biomes, you could move slightly faster. There are many more ideas like this I could continue with.
