Mercury as a new liquid: It would flow at the same speed and distance as lava. However, unlike other fluids, entities cannot be inside of it - any attempt results in the entity being strongly pushed in the direction of the flow. Additionally, landing on mercury wont negate fall damage.
If an entity is forced into mercury (such as via a dispenser or flowing currents), it will begin taking suffocation damage and has a chance to be afflicted with the Poison effect.
