Since the beginning of the Minecraft drop system, we have seen more consistent content updates, a more feasible workload for Mojang, community appraisal, and more. Needless to say, I have discovered several flaws with the current setup of the drop system; one such major flaw being one that I could see causing serious harm to the future: balancing content, and the overall quality of the game. Minecraft, as a game, is very consistent in how much content it delivers in a year, but at the same time there are countless issues, bugs, and imparities that need to be addressed; I believe we need an entire drop just to do that.
Here is my idea: every year, one drop out of the year will be entirely dedicated to quality of life, bug and error fixing, stability, optimization, and parity. The content that would typically be in that drop would be split into thirds and be added to the other drops of the year. It’s important that I note, my idea has a few flaws too. Mojang would most likely have to deal with a larger workload considering that each drop would still fix bugs along with having about 1.33x more content. There would also be less consistent in-game content for players.
In conclusion, while this overhauled drop system would mean more work for Mojang Studios and less content for the game itself, it would also support the long-term quality of the game. I hope that if any Mojang employee sees this post, they bring it up with their coworkers, higher-ups, etc.
